Quri: A 12-Week MVP That Raised the Money — Then Scaled to 50 Restaurants Across the UAE
The Challenge
What Problem Were We Solving?
When Quri's founder came to us, he wasn't a stranger — we'd built his previous company, and that company had been acquired. This time the idea was bigger: QR-based dine-in ordering and payment for restaurants, with no app download. But the money wasn't raised yet, UAE operations didn't exist yet, and investors don't fund decks in restaurant tech — they fund products they can scan at a table. He needed something real, fast, on a founder's budget. The full vision was a platform: multiple payment gateways, third-party discount partnerships, ERP and CRM integrations, cloud infrastructure built for scale. We cut all of it from version one.
The Solution
How We Built It
The 12-week MVP did exactly four things: a guest scans a QR code, sees the menu, places an order, and pays the bill — plus a simple dashboard where the restaurant uploads its menu and sees customers and payments. Nothing else. Every feature we deferred was a feature that couldn't delay the fundraise. After funding closed, we built the full platform on that same foundation: multi-gateway payments, third-party discount and promotion integrations, an API layer for ERP/CRM connections, and cloud infrastructure sized for scale.
